For four consecutive years since the start of the Boholympics in the summer of 2011, an annual sports fete initiated by the Provincial Government, Tagbilaran City has always emerged as the over-all champion. And to date, Tagbilaran City has once again conquered the athletic slugfest with a total of 621 points, with Tubigon trailing in as 1st runner-up with 282 points, followed by Valencia with 258 points, and tied at 3rd were Inabanga and Catigbian both with 150 points.

Tagbilaran City dominated the Athletics for both men and women garnering 393 points and Weightlifting Events in both Male and Female division harvesting 139 points. Tagbilaran City’s Women’s Volleyball Team emerged as the champion, while the Men’s Team triumphed at 2nd place. Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2015 2nd runner-up Sheree Ann Ciruela bagged the second spot in Ms. Boholympics.
City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap has always been supportive of sports development and an athletic advocate. Since taking the helm as the City’s Chief Executive, there have been regular inter-barangay sports competitions for various sporting events like basketball, volleyball, shooting and tennis. The City Mayor believes that ample exposure to sporting events will hone the athletes’ skill and competence leaving them better off to compete outside the City.

It should be remembered that in the recently concluded CVIRAA in Balamban, Cebu this year, Tagbilaran City conquered the mighty delegations from the provinces of Cebu, Dumaguete, Siquijor and Negros Oriental, Tagbilaran City ranked 6th in the Elementary Division, besting the highly urbanized Lapu-Lapu City which was only ranked 7th, Siquijor Province at 8th, Negros Oriental at 9th, and Dumaguete City at 13th. While in the High School Division, Tagbilaran City was up notch at 7th place, leaving Naga City, Talisay City, Danao City, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor behind the trails. In the Over-all Ranking, Tagbilaran City which bagged 10 golds, 22 silvers and 25 bronzes, landed in sixth (6th) place, a big leap from its 10th spot last year, followed by Danao City in 7th place, Bohol Province in 8th place, Dumaguete City in 9th, Naga City in 10th , Siquijor Province at 11th, and Negros Oriental at 12th.
