Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The provincial government of Lanao del Norte through its Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) is again conducting its province-wide survey dubbed as Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS).

The CBMS project is an initiative of the Lanao del Norte LGU led by Governor Khalid Dimaporo. CBMS aims to collect information in the grassroot level by interviewing local households to verify actual population size, educational level, literacy rate, nutrition and sanitation status, agricultural production, sources of income, prevailing economic condition and anti-poverty programs received from government.

Data collected from CBMS has become the primary source of information for provincial government in determining the necessary interventions to best reduce poverty and help mitigate its impact. CBMS also aids policy makers and program implementers in evaluating if their desired goals are achieved.

232 enumerators and 21 supervisors have undergone trainings conducted by PPDO in coordination with the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO).

“It is essential for government to have the latest information so it can respond correctly to the concerns of the people and provide them with services they need most”, explained Governor Dimaporo.

The latest implementation of CBMS is now on its third round after starting the census last 2009. CBMS is conducted every three years under the administration of Governor Khalid Dimaporo.

House to house survey in every municipality will start on June 24 and expected to be completed by end of July 2015.

Enumerators are now equipped with computer tablets for faster and easier encoding of data gathered. All enumerators are also given proper identification cards and uniforms so they can be easily identified by local residents and house occupants. Each enumerator is required to interview 10 households per day.

The next round of CBMS census is set on year 2018. LAR & VNL/PIO-LDN
